Digital Colour Management This two-day intensive course is designed for anyone who already knows the basics of digital printing, but would like to further develop their creative and technical skills. It is ideal for those who work, or plan to work, with print labs, or for those who wish to better control the colour output in their own prints. Course date: The course will take place over two consecutive Sundays, 6th June and 13th June, 2pm to 5pm.
Tutor: Hugh McElveen, Independent Photographer, Fine Art Printer & Educator Course dates:
Understanding how colour works in a digital environment enables you to understand the rules, parameters and limits of the medium. The course covers all the stages: from colour management during image capture in your camera and/or scanning from analogue media, through to editing in Photoshop, monitor calibrations and profiling an image for a fine art print. The course aims to empower you to get the maximum quality from your digital imaging. By the end of the course, participants will move beyond a beginner level and learn how best to manage colour, from raw capture to post production. The course will teach you how to work with print labs and covers the appropriate questions you need to ask in order to get the prints you envisage. Your tutor will assist you in resolving creative and technical difficulties you may be experiencing with your own printing setup, and advise on spotting, finishing and presenting your work. Each participant has sole use of a 24in iMac, utilising Adobe Photoshop CS4. If you prefer, you can bring your own laptop and have your monitor calibrated as part of the workshop.
