Introduction to Digital Photography and Imaging

Our Introduction to Digital Photography is a four-week intensive course. This course takes place over four consecutive Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings from 7.00pm - 9.30pm. The course is also run over four consecutive Saturday mornings from 11.30am - 2pm.

Is this course for me?
This course is ideal for everyone from absolute beginners to experienced photographers who are unfamiliar with what digital imaging has to offer.

What does this course entail?
This course will take introduce you to the digital imaging processes. It will explain to participants the terminology of photography; f-stops, shutter speeds, depth of field etc.. Participants will learn how to capture and edit images using their own digital cameras. The course will also explore the potential offered by digital imaging software (Adobe PhotoShop Creative Suite), and briefly cover printing and image storage options.

What do you need to bring?
Course notes will be provided but you may find it useful to bring a pen and paper. If you have a digital camera please bring it (with its user manual, software and leads). If you have a laptop computer, please also bring it as you will find it easier to work on a computer with which you are familiar. It is also advisable to have a usb key/clip drive to store your work on. You will not need your laptop in week one of the course.

What do we supply?
A desktop computer is allocated to each participant, one of 6 new 24inch iMac's. There is also a Scanner, a Printer and a CD burner which the course tutor will use to demonstrate scanning, printing and cd burning. If you have a prefer to use your own laptop on the course that is fine.

Where does the course take place?
This course is held in the Gallery of Photography in Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin 2. Nearest car parks are: Andrew's Lane; Christchurch or Fleet Street.

How do I book a place?
In order to secure a place we advise that you book well in advance as places are heavily oversubscribed. You may book by calling into the Gallery in person, or by telephone. We regret that we cannot accept bookings by email - please telephone to check availability of places.

Terms and Conditions:
Places are booked only on receipt of full course fee which is non refundable and non transferable.

The Gallery reserves the right to cancel or postpone a course if necessary. The Gallery does not accept responsibility for injury to individuals or any loss or damages to property or personal possessions. This does not affect your statutory rights.
