The Gallery of Photography offers a range of photography courses, run by experienced photography tutors. The courses take place in the Gallery of Photography, conveniently located in Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, in Dublin city centre.

INTRODUCTION TO B&W PHOTOGRAPHY
An introduction to the basic functions of the camera, film processing, working with available light, and basic printing techniques.

INTRODUCTION TO DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY
Our Introduction to Documentary Photography is a short intensive course ideal for anyone with an interest in photography as a future career; or anyone who wishes to learn how to use photography to communicate their ideas more effectively.

INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND IMAGING
Enter the world of digital imaging! This course will introduce you to digital imaging processes. You will learn how to capture and edit images using your own digital cameras and also explore the potential offered by PhotoShop.

NEW - DIGITAL COLOUR MANAGEMENT
This two-day intensive course is designed for anyone who already knows the basics of digital printing, but would like to further develop their creative and technical skills. It is ideal for those who work, or plan to work, with print labs, or for those who wish to better control the colour output in their own prints.

ADVANCED PRINTING TECHNIQUES
This course will introduce you to the use of different fibre-based papers, multi-grade and other printing techniques; toning, Selenium, Sepia, Blue etc.) Learn how to spot, mount and present your prints.

PORTRAITURE - STUDIO WORKSHOP
Explore the creative possibilities of portraiture. This course will introduce you to the techniques of studio and available light, to help you get the most from your portraits.

CREATIVE APPROACHES TO BETTER PHOTOGRAPHY
Creative approaches to Better Photography covers the key subjects of Portraiture, Landscape and Still Life. It discusses both digital and traditional cameras, and both colour and black & white photography. The course introduces you to the do's and don'ts of composition and lighting, basic camera theory, editing, and presentation. Ongoing feedback on participants' images will be provided. The course takes place over 4 evening sessions, 7pm-9.30pm.

NEW - PINHOLE TO DIGITAL WORKSHOP
This is a practical, hands-on course, where participants build their own pinhole cameras, take their own pictures, and develop and print their own photographs in the darkroom. The course is specially created for teenagers. No photographic experience is necessary.
