Biography:
Born in Portlaoise in 1964.
Michael Boran graduated with a degree in Fine Art from NCAD in 1988.
He is represented by Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Dublin, where he has held many solo exhibitions. His exhibition installation, Palace of Bubbles, was in the Gallery of Photography in 1999.
He has exhibited widely in group exhibitions in Ireland and in Europe. Boran recently represented Ireland at the Nuit d’Europe at Les Rencontres d’Arles, France. He was also one of three artists selected for a major commission by the Central Bank of Ireland and the Gallery of Photography, in 2006. Other awards include the Bank of Ireland Emerging Artist Award,1992; the BP Young European Artists, Brussels,1992 and the AIB Bank Here and Now Photography Prize, 2006.
